Executive Director
ACTIVE SEARCH | BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON | FULL-TIME
Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic
| LOCATION Bellingham, WA | COMPENSATION $85K to $110K, DOE | START DATE January 2027 | SCHEDULE Full-time |
Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic has spent more than two decades walking alongside women and families across Bellingham and Whatcom County through one of the most consequential moments of their lives. Every conversation and every appointment rests on one conviction: every life has value. The clinic is ready for its next chapter, and it is looking for the leader who will take it there.
THE ROLE
As Executive Director, you will lead a small, mission driven team and become the face of the clinic to donors, churches, and the wider Whatcom County community. Most of your week will be spent in the clinic with your staff. The rest goes toward the relationships that keep this ministry funded and known.
You will not be expected to run fundraising yourself. You will build and support a team that does it well, while you stay visible as the person donors and partners trust. This is a leadership role first. We are looking for someone with real entrepreneurial and business instincts who can grow this organization thoughtfully, not just keep it running.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
✦ Lead and support a small clinical and administrative team, spending most of your week onsite with them.
✦ Serve as the primary relationship builder with major donors, churches, and community partners.
✦ Oversee, without personally running, the clinic’s fundraising and development strategy.
✦ Guide the clinic through its upcoming accreditation review and ongoing accreditation maintenance.
✦ Build a development plan aimed at real, measurable growth in giving and services.
✦ Set your own specific first-year goals with the board, built around your particular strengths.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
✦ An unapologetic, well articulated commitment to the pro-life mission, ideally grounded in a personal story or experience with this kind of ministry.
✦ A genuine, central Christian faith that shows up in how you lead, not just in what you say.
✦ Integrity and servant leadership: no job is too small, and you lead by example.
✦ A warm, magnetic presence that your team wants to follow and that donors and community partners respond to.
✦ Real business acumen and entrepreneurial drive. Budgets, systems, and sound decisions come naturally to you.
✦ Comfort speaking in public, whether that’s a board meeting, a church service, or a fundraising banquet.
✦ A bonus, though not required: existing roots or relationships in the Whatcom County community.
QUALIFICATIONS
✦ At least 4 years of senior-level experience at a nonprofit or faith-based organization.
✦ Experience leading a staff of 5 or more.
✦ A track record in fundraising. Grant writing experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
✦ Experience with community outreach and relationship building.
✦ Comfort speaking in front of groups of 50 or more.
✦ Experience working closely with a board.
✦ A history of helping lead or contribute to a strategic plan.
✦ A working understanding of facilities management.
✦ Comfort with basic computer systems, including experience with a CRM, communications technology, and some digital marketing.
BENEFITS
✦ Health stipend.
✦ 401(k) match.
✦ Paid time off.
✦ Paid holidays.
